Projeto
O projeto “De Ciudad Abierta a Ventanas” foi concebido ao longo de 20km de uma ferrovia de carga que beira o oceano Pacífico até chegar à Baía de Quintero, na região de Valparaíso/Chile, entre 2019 e 2022, em momentos que eu ainda residia no local e depois como visitante habitual.
A partir de visitas periódicas à Ciudad Abierta de Amereida, a aproximação com a paisagem e seus hóspedes, passei a me interessar pelo trajeto da linha de trem que conecta aquela parte idílica do território, protegida e preservada, ao terreno baldio de Ritoque onde crimes foram cometidos durante a ditadura Pinochet, à contaminada Baía de Quintero onde se encontra o Porto Ventanas. Foram anos de caminhadas e observação, fotografias e vídeos curtos dos percursos realizados.
Pensando na ideia de coro – algo recorrente em meu trabalho – e em múltiplas interpretações de silêncio, presentes tanto na paisagem destacada quanto nas imagens e na história da região, convidei como colaborador, uma vez mais, o artista sonoro chileno Nico Espinoza e também outres profissionais alheies ao processo de criação das imagens para criarem peças visuais com as imagens em movimento do meu projeto. O resultado é uma videoinstalação HD multicanal, além de uma pintura e uma escultura a ser desenvolvida como performance durante o projeto expositivo.
A parte sonora é uma peça eletroacústica que independe das imagens e que é gerada no espaço expositivo a partir de pistas de áudio captadas por Nico Espinoza nas paisagens descritas no projeto, usando microfones de contato, binaural e hidrofone.
A instalação/design de som e o equipamento de reprodução da peça generativa também são assinados pelo artista.
As peças visuais partem de um mesmo material bruto, meus vídeos processuais, e têm coautoria de artistas mulheres, inclusive as que não se identificam com o gênero: Analu Cunha, Barbara Bragato, Barbara Copque, Gisele Camargo, Laura Laguna, Maura Grimaldi, Patricia Black e Simone Cupello.

Project
The project "De Ciudad Abierta a Ventanas" was conceived along 20km of a freight railroad that borders the Pacific Ocean until it reaches Quintero Bay, in the region of Valparaíso/Chile, between 2019 and 2022, at times when I was still residing there and then as a regular visitor.
From periodic visits to Ciudad Abierta de Amereida, the approach with the landscape and its guests, I became interested in the path of the train line that connects that idyllic part of the territory, protected and preserved, to the wasteland of Ritoque where crimes were committed during the Pinochet dictatorship, to the contaminated Bay of Quintero where Porto Ventanas is located. It was years of walking and observing, photographs and short videos of the routes taken.
Thinking about the idea of chorus - something recurrent in my work - and about multiple interpretations of silence, present both in the highlighted landscape and in the images and history of the region, I invited as collaborator, once again, the Chilean sound artist Nico Espinoza and also other professionals unrelated to the process of creating the images to create visual pieces with the moving images from my project. The result is a multi-channel HD video-installation, as well as a painting and a sculpture to be developed as a performance during the exhibition project.
The sound part is an electroacoustic piece that is independent of the images and is generated in the exhibition space from audio tracks captured by Nico Espinoza in the landscapes described in the project, using contact, binaural and hydrophone microphones. The sound installation/design and the playback equipment for the generative piece are also signed by the artist.
The visual pieces start from the same raw material, my procedural videos, and are co-authored by female artists, including those who do not identify with the gender: Analu Cunha, Barbara Bragato, Barbara Copque, Gisele Camargo, Laura Laguna, Maura Grimaldi, Patricia Black, and Simone Cupello.
